Steps to Longevity - Strengthen Your Immunity

It is no surprise that we can't stop the effects of aging; however, it should also be of no surprise that we can slow down the effects of aging by living a healthy lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle consists of a healthy diet, exercise, and a strong immune system. In this particular article I will discuss the importance of immunity and how to keep your immune system strong.
As we age our immune system and our metabolism slows down which causes a lot of people to put on extra weight. Weight gain can be easily treated with exercise and all natural supplements, such as the hoodia pills; but what about our immune system? When our immune system slows down our bodies are less likely to readily attack incoming infections. These infectious bacteria when left untreated by our immune system can lead to inflammation which in return can lead to arthritis, cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer's. That is why it is extremely important to keep your body healthy and strong.
One way to give your self-defense system a boost is by getting an adequate amount of sleep. It is no surprise that your immune system needs a good night's rest in order to remain strong. Sleep is the time when the body can relax and repair itself. As a means of achieving this state of relaxation, it is important to go to bed at the same time each night and to eliminate any possible distraction such as light and sound. Some people even recommend writing down stressful thoughts before you go to bed as a way of relieving built up tension. Another way to strengthen your immunity is to slow down. Our lives are often so hectic that we barely have a minute to sit down and relax. When we are in this state of urgency, our cortisol levels climb higher and higher thereby weakening the immune system. The best way to relax is to sit down and take a few deep breaths. There are certain other herbal remedies which strengthen immunity; therefore, if you want to live a healthy and a long life, remember to take care of your self-defense system.
